Tropisme is a diverse space that aims to promote cultural and
social growth inside and outside its walls.
It is all at once:
- a cultural space which promotes local and international
artists;
- a working space for over 250 entrepreneurs from the
cultural and creative industries, as well as over 50
artists crossing many disciplines
- a bar/restaurant to bring everyone together around
gastronomical events or just daily life
- a space to test social and cultural innovations
- a pool of professionals to drive international projects for
cultural cooperation, going beyond the walls of our own
space but holding the same values

Description or summary of
the proposed project
Through several events and projects coordinated by Tropisme, since 2021, we’ve forged relationships with artists, creative hubs and institutions accross the African continent. Also working closely with African diasporas in France.
We are currently working on :
- the second edition of our Euro-Africa Biennale, which we
co-organise with the city of Montpellier
- the coordination of a project funded by the French
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to help structure artistic
projects in the fields of Hip-Hop, action sports and CCIs
across 4 African countries : Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana
and Tanzania
- the coordination of a project funded by the French
Institutes in Yaoundé and Kinshasa to facilitate
exchanges and co-creation between video game studios
in all three countries
- the support of a projet funded by the French Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, to amplify and structure the fashion
industry in Botswana
The aim through all these projects that we conduct all year
long, is to feed our Biennale. The event represented for its first
edition in 2023 :
- 100 events across 7 days
- In 30 different spaces all around Montpellier
- 20 countries represented
- 100 guests from the African continent
- 5 great litterary meetings
- 350 participants for the Euro-Africa Water days
congress
- Over 50 African entrepreneurs
- Over 30,000 visitors
It was a success.
But we would now like to empower the ”Euro” in Euro-Africa
Biennale, by developping year round programmes for visual
artists from the African and European continents.
The first step for us is to find partners across the European
continent who share similar activities or interests. Hubs or
companies that work with African artists and artists from
African Diasporas, across different medias and with whom we
could create on a rich and empowering exchange program.
Here in Montpellier (south of France) we have residency spaces
and a community of around 50 visual artists in our hub.
Our aim is to use our facilities and internal competencies to
promote inter-continental creation and cooperation.
