Organisation with more than 1050 members, which gathers and
connects journalists in the region of Galicia (NW Spain - 2,7M
inhabitants), and offers them a wide range of services and
collective benefits, as well as defending the common rights of
the profession and contributing to the media literacy of citizens.
For years, the CPXG has organised workshops, awards, confer-
ences and training activities for journalists, as well as for edu-
cational centres and a large number of social entities, with the
participation of thousands of people.
E.g.: Press Freedom Award since 2005; ‘Somos Esenciais’ Jour-
nalism Prize since 2020; ’Nacho Mirás’ grant for young journal-
ists since 2016, working groups on Mental Health and Justice in
collaboration with public institutions.
The entity has also led various guides, reports and recommen-
dations on various aspects of the profession, which have en-
riched the range of resources available to the sector.
